2. Website hosting and access

This website is hosted by STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. Loading a page requires processing connection data such as your IP address, requested resource, access time and browser information. This enables delivery, troubleshooting and protection against misuse. Our legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in a reliable and secure website. STRATO — Datenschutz.

3. Enquiry forms, email and telephone

Our booking and artist forms process your entries in your browser to prepare an email draft. They do not send the enquiry automatically or store it in a website database. Clicking “Prepare my email” passes the entries to your chosen email application; you decide whether to send it. Once you contact us, we process the contact details, artist or organisation details, event or tour plans, links and message you provide to answer your request and discuss bookings, workshops or cooperation. Contract-related enquiries use Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; other enquiries use Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest in responding to correspondence. Optional information is voluntary; without the contact and request details we may be unable to respond. Your email provider also processes the message under its own terms.

4. Language preference and browser storage

When you choose a language, the site stores only its code (en, de or fr) under “connect-africa-language” in your browser’s local storage to remember your choice. It remains until replaced or cleared in your browser settings and is not sent to us as an enquiry. This serves the language function you request (§ 25(2)(2) TDDDG); insofar as personal data is involved, our basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. We have not added advertising cookies, analytics trackers or profiling tools to the website code.

5. Fonts, images and links

Fonts, images and flag icons are served from this website. The site does not request fonts from Google Fonts. There are no embedded social-media feeds, maps or external video players in the current website code. If you follow an external link or open an email application, the destination provider’s privacy information applies.

6. Recipients and international processing

Hosting and email service providers may process data to deliver their services. Information needed for a requested booking or cooperation may be shared with the relevant artists, organisers or production partners, limited to that purpose.

7. Retention

We retain enquiry correspondence for as long as needed to handle the request, any resulting contract, applicable legal retention duties or the establishment or defence of claims. When those purposes end, the data is deleted. Platform technical data follows the provider’s retention criteria; we do not set a fixed retention period for its logs. The language preference remains in your browser until you change or delete it.

8. Your rights

Subject to the legal conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction and data portability (Articles 15–20 GDPR). You may object to processing based on legitimate interests for reasons relating to your situation (Article 21). Any consent can be withdrawn for the future. Contact info@connect-africa.de. You may complain to a supervisory authority, including LDI NRW: www.ldi.nrw.de. We do not use your enquiry data for solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
